We're a small team - less than twenty of us, for now. We spend a lot of time together, always talking, testing things out, sketching, pinning things up, asking, heckling, critiquing, revising. It usually gets too loud. Somehow it's won us recognition by Outside Magazine as one of the best places to work; we're not sure, but maybe they heard rumors of prosecco, dark chocolate and Stumptown.
To grow our small team of designers, creatives, developers and customer care folks, we are occasionally seeking talented, inspired individuals to join us in our Portland, Oregon offices. But-and we're just being straight with you here-it's not all that often. If any positions open up, we'll list them below along with instructions on how to apply. 

Nau is currently hiring a Creative Director, Ecommerce Director and a Marketing Manager.  



The Nau Creative Director’s role is to provide the vision and leadership for the Creative Studio Team and to develop and
execute the creative tone for the Nau brand. This will include overseeing the art direction and editing of all studio and lifestyle
photography, seasonal workbooks, look books, trade show booths, social media, blog, marketing campaigns, emails, PR, POP, retail
store environments and all brand related communication. This role works closely with, Wholesale sales and Nau retail
stores to develop and execute creative seasonal brand and marketing plans that meet Nau’s sales goals. Additionally you will be a key
member of Nau leadership team and provide creative direction for Nau’s strategic plans.



• Leading the Creative Studio to develop and execute a comprehensive visual strategy for Nau
• – creative direction for all assets (graphic design, studio + lifestyle photography and copy) Work closely with web director to support financial goals
• Marketing – collaborate with marketing and provide all visual direction for (email marketing, digital ads, print ads, PR, press releases, showrooms, etc.)
• Social media – oversee visual direction/tone for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.
• Wholesale sales –creative direction for all sales assets/collateral (workbook, look book, POP, and other in-store media, trade show
booth and sales materials)
• Nau retail stores – work with creative studio and retail staff to create a visual space that supports the nau brand.
• Management – in-house ar t director, contractors, copy writer and marketing manager


• Be an active member of Nau’s Leadership team. Provide creative expertise + direction to develop Nau’s brand strategy.


• Evolve and refine’s aesthetic and improve commercial performance.
- Work with Nau web director to develop and execute an integrated sales and marketing strategy
- Continue to evolve photography to define and communicate the brand message and aesthetic
- Direct model selection, attitude and styling to increase brand resonance, accessibility, shopability and conversion
- Work the web team to ensure the design of the site and the use of photography supports merchandising and creates a powerful
brand experience
- Work with the product team to ensure design philosophy + appropriate product design details are effectively represented on
• Ensure Nau’s Direct Marketing effectively represents the brand
- Provide creative direction for seasonal marketing plans. Lead creative team to provide all marketing assets needed (photography,
copy, ads, etc.)
• Ensure Nau’s Wholesale Marketing effectively represents the brand and supports dealer sales/marketing efforts
- Direct design of trade show booths
- Direct creative for Look book, work book, POP and other dealer collateral
• Ensure Nau’s retail store locations accurately represent the brand
- Provide creative direction for interior design, merchandising and marketing

This role is responsible for developing Nau’s next phase of business success in the web channel. The Ecommerce Director is
responsible for strategic planning, budgeting, website optimization and functionality implementations, SEO/SEM, merchandising,
season launches and brand presentation on This person will be responsible for managing the sales strategy to meet or
exceed annual brand and sales goals. The role will work closely with the creative and marketing teams and manage multiple
agencies and contractors that contribute to’s success. This person is a key member of the Nau leadership team.

• Will work with the GM, Creative Director and Marketing Manager to create the strategy that will effectively communicate Nau’s brand

• Responsible for developing and managing an e-team to address all strategic, operational and ser vice needs for


• The Ecommerce Director is responsible for strategic planning, budgeting and implementation. This position is for someone with a track record in branding, ecommerce and digital marketing.
• This role will be:
- Responsible for Ecom department budget and setting sales goals
- Identify and execute opportunities for process improvement
- Manage business trends, track analytics, KPI’s and adjust strategy accordingly
- Keep up to date on digital trends
- Merchandise product assortment, 3rd party brands, and cross sells to maximize sell-through
- Participate in the planning and execution of the current product lines and new extensions
- Attend weekly sales channel meetings
- Manage ecom agencies and services such as: Bazaarvoice Reviews, LivePerson, International Checkout, web development, SEO/SEM
- Sales forecasting based on company goals, sales trends, market trends and customer behavior
- Manage a promotion/closeout strategy that balances inventory, margin and revenue
- Perform other functions as required such photo shoot shot-list creation and the Partners for Change program
- Work closely with internal team on planning and execution of digital marketing plans and strategy including email marketing,
social media, and digital ads to meet or exceed traffic and sales goals
- Manage Customer Service department and digital project manager

The marketing manager is responsible for all aspects of marketing the Nau brand. This includes planning, strategy development,
budgeting, implementation and tracking across all markets and industry sectors of a comprehensive marketing plan. This role is
responsible for developing Nau’s marketing plan and driving qualified traffic to and supporting our wholesale dealer
base. The role will work with the Nau GM, Creative Director, Web producer and wholesale sales marketing manager to coordinate all
activities. Secondary responsibilities include participation with the Nau management team to develop and fine-tune Nau’s brand
positioning and strategic market opportunities.



• Develop, implement and execute successful marketing campaigns that reach our target customers and new audiences. Identify key
metrics to measure results.

• Manage PR agency relationship to insure work is on brand and supports seasonal needs. Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with internal product team and PR agency to ID seasonal brand stories
- Maintain relationships with key editors and writers in our main PR channels and publications
- Attend trade shows and as our in-house PR contact
- Coordinate PR events, and seasonal showrooms
• Marketing focus will be on t he design/fashion & outdoor sports consumer and utilize the following channels:
- / PR / Digital Advertising / Social media / Strategic Partners / Inf luencers


• Use PR to drive key product and brand stories for each season
• Focus on fashion, lifestyle and outdoor media
• Conduct two seasonal NYC Media events
• Evolve as main communication vehicle for brand philosophy and storytelling
- Work with Creative Studio and provide marketing perspective for the creative assets used on and our blog The Thought Kitchen
- Partners for Change as a secondary platform to reinforce the brand values and leverage their networks
• Work with Jr. copy writer to leverage social media Facebook, Twitter, Instagram: Build deeper relationship with existing fans and grow fan base
• Refine and manage influencer and Pro Purchase program to increase exposure for Nau
• Develop design oriented and sport based strategic partnerships, reflecting similar values, building awareness with new consumers
and further engage current consumers
• Travel to select trade shows to insure effectiveness of marketing and PR efforts
• Assist in twice annual sales meetings and work with the wholesale sales and marketing person to support sales needs including: sale-in and sell through materials - work book, swatches, tech training info, POP, local events and major marketing directions for the season
• Assist in all add cr eative and placement (Primarily digital)
