As the director of PDX Contemporary Art, Jane Beebe finds artists who see the world in a unique way, and who have the skills to translate that vision into good work. Hardly a surprise, then, that Nell Warren's on the roster, not only for her distinctly Pacific Northwest aesthetic, but also her commitment to making smart, sustainable art.
Nell salvages and reuses the paint she scrapes from her palette, and she's looking after the landscape, too, building an art and ecology center - called Kahnaway - in the Columbia River Gorge.
