A Portlander living in Brooklyn NY, Malia stays in a remodeled barn on her family's property when she comes back to town. Somewhat fitting for a sculptor whose work toys with an eclectic menagerie of animals from foxes to ladybugs, bears, ceramic cats, lead birds and an 8' tall wooden beaver. She's currently at work on a series that includes a 6' tall bronze stalagmite of pigeon droppings, a group of cast iron mud bubbles and a series of wearable branches and jewelry.
