I usually have a hard time finding clothes that fit well being a trim 6'3" with long arms. This has a great tailored fit with arms that actually go down past my wrists and a length that goes down to my butt. Unlike some of the other reviews, the extra length in this jacket creates a perfect fit for me. The hidden elastic cuffs are perfect for trapping heat without looking dorky. The offset zipper takes a little getting used to, but it does keep the seam off your throat. Being a "sweater" this won't be as warm as some down jackets, but if you are looking for low-profile, compressible insulation with style, this is it.

This jacket is slick, light, and incredibly warm for it's thickness.

The sweater is very light, lighter than a shirt. It has a very slim design which tapers on the sides so it doesn't look like a puffy coat at all. It is very warm and can be worn comfortably in snowstorms. The quality might not be that great under stress but I haven't worn it for long enough yet. Also feathers come out a little too much.

Way too tight!

I thought this would fit the same as the down shirt/jacket but not. It was so tight I had to return it. the next size would have been to long in the arms.

great except the sleeves

for clothing i like a slim fit. i also like my outdoor clothes to not look like i'm going camping, they must have enough style for walking around the city.

this jacket is great. the style was great too. it fit really well except for the upper arms (bicep to shoulder), its really baggy. which is why i had to return it. i ordered the shirt, i hope that fits better.

A little fragile

This jacket is fantastic, but could really use heavier stitching and thread - I have already had a seam start to come undone and worry that the jacket is not rugged enough for everyday use.

I saw this on Uncrate, and ordered it in eclipse, and love it. The fit, fabric, and style are all superb. You'll appreciate the zipper placement, as well as the dual pockets on the inside. My one critism is the pockets on this inside are on the right side, which makes it difficult for easy phone access when zipped up, for anyone that's right handed. (Really not a big deal, Im sure there is some clever reasoning behind it) Anyway, it kept me toasty, even when walking on lake shore. It will make you chuckle everytime you walk past someone shivering in their ugly North Face...

The search for the perfect down sweater...

I've been looking for a down sweater for a while now as an around the neighborhood jacket for winter, and have been trying out a bunch of different brands in an effort to find the perfect down sweater.

* Patagonia Down Sweater - has a very boxy cut so if you are in any way V shaped you will find it very loose at the waist. Other than that a great jacket.

* Marmot Zeus - definitely a lot puffier than the other jackets I tried.

* TNF Diez has a shiny face fabric that is just not my thing. The TNF Thunder is a marginally puffier than some of the others (but not so much as the Zeus# was the front runner previously.

* I couldn't find a store that carried the MH Nitrous locally but would have liked to have tried it.

I bought the NAU online on spec when they had a one day sale and am very happy I did.

I'm 6'1" and 195lbs with a long torso, so unlike others I find the length of the jacket to be fine, and the NAU penchant for slim fitting means I don't have the boxy issues I had with the Patagonia.

I love the Eclipse color, most of the other brands are available only in very bright colors limiting my personal choices to grey or black #TNF Thunder was a nice exception there#.

The styling definitely marks this as more of a 'fashion' piece than a technical piece, but as I bought it as an around town jacket I am ok with that.

I can take or leave the offset zipper. It does contribute to the style of the piece, but like all offset zippers means the collar is a bit askew when unzipped.

The wrist closures are offset from the end of the sleeves by a couple of inches, which on me is roughly where my wrist watch would normally sit, this does force the watch to move either fore or aft of the wrist closure, and could be an issue if you wear your wrist watch band tight. If you don't wear a wrist watch then obviously irrelevant.

Is this the perfect down sweater? No, but for a warm around town jacket that doesn't look like it was made from recycled neon signs and comes in colors other than black it is just fine thank you very much.
