Kiva.org is the world's first person-to-person micro-lending website, empowering individuals to lend to an entrepreneur across the globe.

Problem: 
Fewer than 2% of the world's poor have access to financial services from sources other than informal, usurious moneylenders.

Program: 
Kiva empowers individuals to lend to an entrepreneur around the globe to invest in his/her own potential and improve her/her life. As loans are repaid, lenders receive updates about the entrepreneurs they support and money can be relent to another worthy entrepreneur.

Progress: 
Over 465,000 people have loaned more than $147million to 379,000 entrepreneurs in 53 countries. Currently, loans made through Kiva.org have a 98% repayment rate.
