Style #135W01

Modernism meets minimalism in this elegant, tailored trench. We took a classic, recycled woven wool and fused it with a waterproof, breathable laminate to create a completely seam sealed, two-layer winter coat. 650-fill recycled down holds in the heat, while a taffeta lining glides easily over layers.

    Wanted to love it

I really hoped that I would like this coat. I love the style and cut but two drawbacks lead me to return:
    1) It's heavy. After 3 years of having a cocoon trench, this really left me weighed down
    2) It's stiff. I wore mine for a day, hoping it just needed to be broken in. But, no luck! It's simply uncomfortable. The neck, especially, felt unreasonably stiff. If you don't have it all the way zipped up, it's pretty annoying.

Side note: I forgot that everything clings to wool! If you have a dog or a child, this coat could leave you looking a little shabby.

    fabric great, fit off

I own several NAU products including the: down shirt, down blazer, and waterproof trench (all in size XS). I am 5'5" with long limbs and love NAU for the long arm lengths and slim styling. I live bicoastal switching between Seattle and DC. I was looking for something waterproof but with a down insulation layer (this is remarkably difficult to find). The pros - the prato down trench is made from a great fabric that looks stylist for DC suit dressing and the more casual PNW attire. I don't know if the fabric is truly waterproof as I did not test this outside. The cons - the overall fit was off and not similar to other NAU items I have in XS (the size I ordered in this jacket). The arm holes dropped down too far, yet the waist was perfect. The arms were the right length so I could not have sized down. Three additional frustrations that could easily be fixed in the next version: the interior of the collar is the same wool fabric as the outside of the jacket meaning that the wool is scratchy and next to your neck and face. The entire collar should have been lined with something soft. Along the same lines the insides of the pockets were made of polyester satin fabric which is cold - these also should have been lined in a warm, feel-good fabric. Lastly, there are flaps that snap over the zippered pockets and these are essentially useless and get in the way of your hands entering the pockets. Looking forward to seeing the 2.0 version of this jacket.

    Super classy w/ great quality

I'm very attached to the NAU brand with their functional and sustainable construction while being both contemporary and classic! The Prato coat holds up very well in Northeast (Maine/Boston) weather with cold, wind, snow, and rain.

The only small downside for myself is that it's just a bit longer than I would like as I am 5' 2 (size small) and typically prefer petite sizes.

    Good looks & high performance

Beautiful jacket! I love the style of the tweedy wool -- it doesn't look like a high tech piece -- and yet it functions like one.

Waterproof with a removable hood, its built for the PNW weather.
