I was looking for a replacement for my old beat up long black down coat. This did that and with style. More flattering fit with the tie waist. Very warm but not bomber if you're looking to spend long hours at the dog park in very cold weather. Using it as more of my "nice" winter coat. Fabric has a cool subtle texture I wasn't expecting. Love the fabric around the wrists and neck and how well insulated the hood is. Also has great hidden access to cinch down hood

this is my 3rd nau purchase, and i've been very happy with it! the fit is slim-regular, and it's not bulky like others i've tried. i found this trench to be more flattering/form fitting than the splendor trench. i can wear a fitted sweater comfortably, but not much more. the belt hits at the right spot, and overall the fit and finish is ALMOST perfect. what would make this jacket just right is if the pocket linings were cozy rather than scratchy.

I bought this coat in a small. Nau tends to run slightly larger for me since i have narrow shoulders. When I've gone up a size with other nau coats, they've been too large - and reading other reviews for size, it seemed like it would be the same case. This one is perfect on top and a little snug around my hips, and i kept it since i dont like when clothing is swimming around my shoulders. I also wanted something slimming since so many down coats puff out too much. Its been great in Philadelphia, biking and stood up to one snowy night so far. It's great quality and would recommend.

I needed a jacket versatile for +/- 10 degree winters, with enough room for layering underneath. Style was a must-have too. The blazing trench has everything I was looking for...it's worth every penny and more!
I am 5'3", 125 lbs., and wear it in size S. I can fit a midweight cableknit sweater and baselayer underneath comfortably, although as the reviewer below noted, on many days just a shirt is fine as this jacket is so insulating! It is also deceptively cuddly, with its super stylish silhouette and detailing (love the cuffs, collar, belt) and lightweight loft found in just the right amount throughout.

I bought a fathom jacket from Nau last year and have been thinking about getting a longer coat. I need a down coat, but no one wants to look like the stay puft marshmallow man...
I got the blazing trench in Caviar(black), and I love it. It's super light yet so warm! In freezing temp, I only wore a long sleeve tee underneath and I was completely warm and comfortable.
Unlike other puffer coats, this doesn't make me look like a snowman, and I love the number of pockets; it is rare for a women's coat to have an inside pocket.
I do however have one very minor niggle - as with the last year's jacket, the inside of the 2 front zipped pockets is lined with a mesh-like material. It's fine if you're wearing gloves, but if your fingertips are chap (my hands often get rough in the winter regardless of how often I use hand cream), the fabric snags and can be annoying at times...
The ribbed wool collar and sleeves sound like they're going to itch, but the material is very nice and feels almost like pima cotton or something very soft. I love it.
The down is also of very good quality, you will never see any feather fly out of this coat!
I'm 5'8" 136lbs (34DD) and got a Small. With a tee underneath, it fits nicely with a little more room in the sleeves - so I could also wear a sweater, although I personally think you don't need one underneath this particular coat, because it's so warm.
