    Excellent, versatile jacket

I bought this jacket for PNW winters as well, which are mostly rainy, and temps in the 40's F. I desperately wanted an alternative to the technical, plasticky looking un-stylish jackets that other outfitters sell in these parts. This jacket is surprisingly warm, fits a tad bit looser than other Nau jackets, which is just perfect for wearing a sweater underneath. I was unsure how waterproof it might be, so I took it for a rainy hike in January for 3 hours, and am pleased to report I stayed dry and warm. I am very happy that Nau came along and provides just the right blend of style, innovative fabrics, and performance.

The last jacket you'll ever need

Let me start by saying NAU came into my life about 2 years ago through searching for stylish wear that I didn't have to baby, and could perform like top end technical wear. Brands like Outlier kept popping up, but their limited selection and high prices didn't appeal to me. Finally, I happened upon a few NAU items, and started small; their wind shirt I believe it was. Well, I was blown away, this was EXACTLY what I wanted.

Well fast forward a year from first NAU, and I found this Wool Patrol jacket that seemed just...perfect. I got last generation's jacket in a charcoal color (Caviar), and have about a year's worth of wear under my belt. I can't believe there aren't more reviews on here! Here is my review below:

Form: As others have said, about this jacket and NAU in general, the Wool Patrol is a stylishly cut jacket that looks like a peacoat mixed with a shell. It definitely leans towards the peacoat side in style, so fits perfectly with a shirt and tie; exactly what I had hoped. Once you are ready to hit the slopes though, nobody would bat an eye if you wore this jacket.

Fit: This is a traditional NAU cut with a slimmer fit that doesn't hang off you like a poncho. This adds to the what is described in the "Form" section with being able to fit in the board room or the mountain.

Function: This is where I must concede I haven't tested this puppy fully. The outer "shell," if you can call it that, is indeed a wool composite of some sort, which looks great, but makes me afraid to abuse. As such, I haven't actually worn it on excursions that would put this through abrasive conditions; I've mostly used this as a rain modern stylish rain/snow jacket. To that end, this jacket excels. It comes with a DWR coating that I have since refreshed, and I've really never had a fear in downpours or blizzards about getting wet. Can't ask anything more from something like makes me look like I've stepped out of a GQ magazine. Finally, this thing is WARM. The real wool contributes greatly to this, but I have always been in good shape in very wintery conditions with this jacket. I'd say you'd be fine with this jacket alone down to 20F; chilly, but okay. With layering the possibilities become endless.

    Great jacket!

I ordered this in "caviar", which turns out is a charcoal gray type color. The jacket is perfect for Pacific NW winters and is exactly what I hoped it would be. Tailored cut so its stylish enough to wear out, warm enough without being too warm if you're wearing reasonable fall/winter clothes, and really high quality material and construction. The attention to detail is amazing, and the little things that they do to make it just slightly different and better than what you will see at every clothing store are appreciated. Love it.

Did I mention that their customer service is awesome?!?! The jacket was on sale in the store, and a quick phone call and they matched the price even before I received the jacket. I'll shop here more often now.

Great waterproof jacket for the Pac NW

The jacket is really handsome in person and it is the only jacket I have ever been able to find that is both stylish, work appropriate, and waterproof so it is the perfect jacket for the Pacific Northwest weather. It came quickly in the mail and was just what I expected it to be. Fabulous coat!
