Really nice coat but perhaps only for certain climates

I bought this coat for the waterproof material, hood, length, and smart styling. It was heavier than I had expected - not serious insulation like down but definitely thicker than a shell. I am 5’ 9.5” and 140 lbs. I can wear a medium but chose a large for length and ability to layer underneath. Given the padding, it would definitely look sleeker in the medium. It’s an interesting in between coat - not light/cool enough and too thick and clunky for spring, but the insulation isn’t serious enough for winter like Nau’s excellent compact down waterproof coat which I’ve owned for almost 10 years. It is definitely a stylish and well-built coat, but I’m not sure exactly what I’ll use it for except the limited fall or early spring weeks. We’ll see!

    Outstanding!!

This is the coat I have been looking for for the past 5-6 years. It's nicer and longer than a jacket, but it's not a fancy, long coat. It works with all kinds of clothing underneath, from jeans to winter cocktail wear. The best part is that it's really, really warm AND waterproof. We stood outside in 41º rain on St. Patrick's Day and I was completely comfortable for a couple of hours. I'm thrilled with this purchase, and know that it will join my other nau clothing and last for years.

    Wow!

I had been looking for a waterproof coat that could handle seriously bad weather, but would not look like a standard-issue winter coat from an outdoors retailer. The Luminary is all that and more! I love the deep pockets on the front, and the high collar is a major plus. Sizing was a little bit of a concern when I ordered. I'm 5'3", 114 lbs, and usually head for coats that are specifically sized for Petites. I was worried that I would be drowning in material. If XS had been in stock in the gray, I probably would have gone with that size. But I ordered a Small and crossed my fingers. It's definitely more generous on me than it is on the model (above), but not so much that it's annoying. The adjustable cuffs made it a breeze to size the arms right, and I like the longer length for the extra coverage. I can also wear a bulky layer underneath and still be fine. All in all, a great coat! (I just wish I'd waited two weeks to order---I would have saved more than $40!)

    Issue with sleeves

Love the coat! Great styling and such quality. My one complaint is that sleeves are too long. Bought a light trench coat in fall and had same issue. Snaps have to be closed or they talk to me.....

    Not for small people

This is one of two Nau coats I purchased and returned (the other was the Prato wool down trench). I ordered the XS in both and they were enormously huge! I am 5'0" and 110lbs and the XS size went past my knees, the sleeves were longer than my fingertips and the shoulders and arms were baggy...I was swimming in this XS coat! Really sad because I absolutely LOVE the quality of these products. Without a doubt I would have kept this one if it fit - it's a gorgeous and very well made coat. Too bad the sizing is so off for small people - I can't buy any more Nau products until they start making an XXS size! Or XXXS!
