    Not up to Nau standards

As a long-time buyer of Nau products I've always been impressed with the workmanship and design - especially the coats and jackets.

Here is one time where Nau fell short. I've several complaints about this jacket:

    * The design is sort of uninspired. Unlike the 3 other Nau jackets I own which have subtle unique design aspects, this jacket is like many others one would find at a department store.
    * The thickness of the wool fabric leaves a lot to be desired. It is quite thin and doesn't hold it's shape well. I would almost call this a shirt jacket. Though I will say, the fabric is warm for how thin it is.
    * The design of the buttons is odd. They are sewn onto a piece of ribbon that extends the length of the placket. Where the buttons are the ribbon is loose from the fabric. Not sure what the form or function is of this design. It further exacerbates the jacket not holding it's shape and creates gaps where wind can enter the jacket. A zipper or zipper and button design would have worked much better. This design reminds me of something a fashion design intern would have come up with.

This purchase will definitely make me more cautious about purchasing Nau gear in the future.

    Nice jacket

I love this jacket. Like all the other Nau stuff I own it is all designed for really tall skinny people with gigantor length arms. Had to take it to a tailor to have the arms shortened. I bought the large which fits my torso. I would normally buy a M or S in other brands.

    Great jacket

Perfect for biking to a meeting, arms could be a bit longer though (more like a bike jacket).

Great feel, great material, dynamic mid-weight outer layer

I was looking for a wool jacket and bought both the Felt Jacket and this one with the intention of keeping just one. This turned out to be difficult because I liked both jackets more than just about any other products out there (compared to the standard mall-bought wool car coat or any REI-sold brands). This one ended up winning due to it's incredible style and near perfect fit for me. I wish there was more stretch for the shoulders/arms and would love to see other color options. If Nau made this same jacket out of the same material of the prussian blue felt jacket, I couldn't imagine finding anything better as a stylish mid-weight outer layer.

On a positive performance note, I found this (as wool should) to be very adequate for cold but not well-below-freezing temps AND to breathe well enough to wear over a t-shirt with temps pushing 60. I've also benefited from it's natural water-repellency though I will always reach for a gore-tex jacket for downpours.

This jacket has all the best parts of a performance wool full-zip, a patagonia better sweater, wool car coat, a blazer, and wool peacoat.
