In fall 2015, we partnered with Seattle based photographer, Jon Trend, to explore the Fall 2015 Collection in a way that was completely different from anything we had done before. Jon has a unique, gritty photographic style that pulls the natural beauty out of the most urban of environments. Presented below is a selection of Jon’s photos and thoughts from that project, showcasing his exploration of the city, and our brand.
Traveling through New York was insane. The whole time I couldn’t stop saying “I can’t believe I’m here”. Looking back on it now at some points I was having an out of body experience. Like when I was 2000 feet above the city in a helicopter looking down on 8 million people just living there day-to-day life. It was all just so surreal.
My approach to this editorial was to make the photos flow just like the trip. I didn’t want to make things seem forced, and I just let my eye do the work. If I saw something that stood out as we were wandering around I would take advantage of it. This set of photos is more or less a visual representation of my journey through New York.Shop the Collection
Wandering the streets of NYC was an experience in itself. The weather was not always on our side so we were more than thankful for pieces such as this to keep us warm and dry. Walking through Chinatown avoiding crowds of people and crazy temperatures we found this perfect little nook to snap some photos!Shop Men's Urbane
There was never a time where we didn’t need a jacket/hoodie while walking around the city. This hoodie was perfect for every moment on this trip so I only thought it was appropriate to capture it at the perfect moment in front of one of NYC’s most famous landmarks.Shop Randygoat Hoody
My favorite things about NYC was the crazy amount of textures and layers you would see no matter where you looked. There was always something going on in front of you, behind you and all around. This jacket matched the setting perfectly, with its multiple textures and layers making it the perfect fit for a cold day in the city.Shop Synfill Hoody Pullover
The sun surprised us more than once on this trip! As we were wandering around downtown we found this little pocket of light to hangout in to take a break so we could snap a few photos. The old bricks and the soft light caught my attention and created the perfect setting for this image. This long sleeve was more than ideal that day for those sunny, brisk conditions!Shop Reposition
Sitting down taking it all in after a crazy day of exploring the sun decided to break through and show itself just in time for it to set. The Utility Jacket was definitely one of our favorites on this trip!Shop Utility Workshirt
As the week progressed the weather got colder. Walking through Central Park in the afternoon was a dream. Finding this tunnel was like landing in the setting for a movie. This tunnel was one of our favorite finds, the quietness and the soft light made for this perfect moment.Shop Allee Pullover
This was taken past midnight while we were walking to our train to head back and this overpass was just too perfect not to take photos in! Layering up was key during these cold nights in NYC. The Basis Long Sleeve was the perfect layering piece for out exploring the city.Shop Basis
One of my favorites from this series. We found this spot during the day, it was cool but full of people. We decided to wait and come back at night, and it was beyond worth it. Stoked to have this be one of my favorite shots with one of my favorite pieces!Shop Ternary Jacket
On our last day before heading to the airport we stopped and had breakfast with one of our close friends. He was kind enough to show us his rooftop with this amazing view! After scaling a wall or two to climb up I was able to snap this shot of the ultra-cozy Blazing Down Jacket. Thankful for warm jackets and amazing views!Shop Blazing Jacket
